My Experience at Alcatraz

Alcatraz represents now one of the main attractions in the city of San Francisco. Hundreds of people around the world want to know more about the history and visit the prison. Alcatraz also known as "The Rock"  became a prison from 1934 to 1963 housing between approximately 200-300 prisoners. It was an extreme security prison where  some of the country's most famed criminals like Al Capone, George Machine Gun Kelley, Robert Stroud, Alvin "Creepy" Karpis were sent there.

Alcatraz Island has been one of the major attractions in San Francisco.

If you would like to take a tour to the Island of Alcatraz, I recommend booking well ahead of time.
Here are some tips to ensure and enjoy a good experience.

1. Consider  taking a night tour
2. Book the date and time online. Make sure the tour you pick disembarks at the Island
3. If you are not familiar with the area, check the directions on the web
4. Try to find parking near Pier 36 for several hours because you might decide to stay longer at the prison
5. Arrive 30 minutes earlier from your ferry departure time. The boarding line gets very crowded
6. Bring a couple of jackets, it gets very cold and windy at the Island

Every inch of the prison has a unique story

After having heard so many stories about the "cell 14D", I was very curious to see how it felt to be near it. On my cell phone. I have an application to detect sound waves, voices, and noises. It's kind of an exploration of sounds through sensors (radar ghost). In front of cell 14D, my phone detected vibrations, and the parameters in the radar started changing, recording sounds and showing a caption that said: "closer energy". Frightened to be alone by that cell any longer, I ran to catch up with the rest of the tour.  Safety in numbers …
